Marvelous small format albumen photograph, 3 5/8” x 4 ½”, of a tailor with two seamstresses actively working.  The man is posed with the tools of his trade as we see him holding a large iron and his scissors are on the floor in front of him.  The women of course are the ones hard at work completing two outfits.  Most fascinating is the woman in the middle as she has the black garment turned inside out and we can see the beautiful stitch pattern.  This unusual small format image has been cut in a strange pattern and we see various elements of the studio such as reflective screens on the right and the base of possibly another screen on the left. We are not sure why the photographer chose this format but we quite enjoy this most unique image.  It is in excellent condition with lovely tones and contrast and a hint of wear seen at an angle.  No photographer identification.  $45
